How has the second day of 2008 been for everyone?? Feeling very lazy to get your ass up in the morning and drive to work??? Same here same here!!! Yours truly had to wake up at 7am this morning because one of her clients is a super early bird who believes that the early birds will get worms to eat. But the early worms will be eaten by the birds LOL. So be the bird and not the worm ok!!! Right, I digress.
Anyhow, it has been a maniac past 3 weeks for me, irregardless it being Christmas or New Year or any of the sort. But now that work has come to an end for the last quarter of 2007, I can finally have some time to sit back, relax and play with baby Marco and meet up with some old friends whom I have not caught up with for ages!!! Also, there is a wedding on the 5th, for a close friend marrying off to the States. Will update on that later.
So, back to my post. First of all, thank you to those who have supported this blog and participated in the MidZone Countdown 2008 Blog contest. And thank you to all who have gone for the event. I hope everyone has had a great and memorable time!!! For those who were unable to make it due to the various reasons, we hope to catch you once again in our next event, ok?!?!?!
And now, its time for some photos taken from the event. The night started out pretty slow and quiet. When I got there, the crew were still busy setting up...
This was how the ticket sales booth looked like. Also the place where the blog contest winners collected their tickets.
Backdrop for those who wanted to take pictures in memory of where they were at the eve of year 2008!
You don't want to mess with him. Tight security were adhered to at the venue. Ya, they did full body checks!!! One 20+ years old looking dude was found sticking an extendable (up to 1m long) iron baton down his pants. God knows why he needed to have that at a countdown party!! o.O
Starting around 8pm+, people gradually strolled in to the counters to either redeem or purchase their tickets for entry.
Seeing that the crowd was still not too pack, I quickly sneaked to the backstage and got up close and personal with DJs Stoneface & Terminal. Ok, maybe not as close and personal as I was hoping it to be, cos the two big boys were kind of shy. Maybe they thought the Malaysian chick, *ahem* me, was too hot for their handling *LOL*The performances started promptly at 9pm, all in sync with the pulsating music played by the DJs on the main stage. Yes, you heard me right. They were performing TOGETHER with the music spinned by the DJs on stage, AT THE SAME TIME SAME TEMPO AND SAME SAME EVERYTHING LAH
I was very impressed by this very precised mirror-laser dance show. Wish I could have an outfit like that!! Doesn't she remind you of "Mystic" in X-Men???
Being Malaysians, there has to be some form of traditional performance, and in this case, we have the Lion Dance since its the New Year after all!! And yes, the lions are dancing to 70s / 80s Retro music ok!!! Very contemporary!!
Then there was the "Drummers" from the Malaysian Dohl Federation. Drumming away in sync with the Hip-Hop tracks.Half-way through the performances, I found the bloggers hanging at the entrance and thus caught hold of them to cam-whore lor.
Lover-birds taking a photo in memory of the last of 2007, bridging over to 2008, they spent together. But these guys werent so fortunate. They cam-whore session kept getting disturbed by the smoke machine.
Twice....these three dudes obviously thought it was fun because they rushed to take a picture by the backdrop after they saw the first group of guys (above) spray by the machine.
These were the smarter revellers, obviously veterans at rave parties, cos they brought gas-mask with them to avoid getting sprayed on.
This dude must also be a veteran at parties like this, because he understood that people just want to have fun and not smell another person's sweaty armpits when they crowd together. Slightly after 10pm, Serena C came onstage to properly start the night.

Followed by the magnificent choreographed musical firework display. Ok, to be honest, i did not take this video, cos i was too blown away by the firework display and have forgotten to record it. Silly me. So i ripped this off youtube.
After the fireworks, DJ Matthew White took over the stage and impressed the crowd with his unique brand of Underground-electro music and set pace for DJs Stoneface and Terminal.

DJs Stoneface & Terminal threw the crowd into a higher state of consciousness with their distinctly trance and electronica music. By this time, I was soooooooooooooooooooooo drunk with their music I couldn't remember what I was doing!!! No, I was NOT drunk. If fact, I didnt drink a single drop on this night!! O.o
Seriously, the last I could remember of the night, was dancing by the backstage!!! And here is a very short clip I've taken of S&T's set. Don't ask me what happen after that. Hope you will enjoy this teaser piece and Happy Year 2008~~~!!!! We will see you in our next party!!!!
